Today’s weather will sit around 25˚C (80˚F) for the day, with scattered rainfall and clouds.
Due to the rather late posting of this discussion, the sun is already rising over the islands.
The calm and slightly cloudy conditions are visible in the above imagery.
Satellite imagery of Fiji from MTSAT is shown below.
Conditions are strikingly similar to yesterday. Scattered clouds, with most of the activity sitting up in the North.
Prevailing winds are out of the west in the upper atmosphere, and out of the east at the surface. Neither of these conditions lead to any predictions that the northern activity will move southward towards Fiji.
In addition to the winds, the atmospheric sounding above shows low clouds, less than an inch of total precipitable water, and a dry upper atmosphere. This leads to the prediction of light rain and scattered clouds.
The light rain is actually happening right now (6:00 AM), and is visible in the radar imagery below. (click to make it loop)
Lastly shown is the weather map for the area, with Fiji heavily influenced by the high pressure centers to the south west and south east. The winds are steadily rotating around the centers, keeping the weather modest.
